BYRD is highly configurable, meaning that it offers ample opportunity to extend or alter scope and functionality. All configuration settings only affect the users of the organization to which the settings are being applied. Some settings can be done via the user interface, e.g. choosing a data model or modifying an existing data model. More advanced configurations require uploading a customizing package. In this chapter, we’ll describe the basic settings which can be done solely by the user interface. Further topics will be covered in the chapters Customizing and Development.
